The urge is strongest at night. You're tired, your defenses are down, and the loneliness feels unbearable. Here's your emergency protocol.
Step 1: Put the Phone Down (Literally)
Not across the room. In another room. Under a pillow. Make it harder to act on impulse.
Step 2: Do Something Physical
Get up, splash water on your face, do 10 jumping jacks. Break the spiral by changing your physical state.
Step 3: Write It Instead
Open your notes app. Write everything you want to say. All of it. Then close the app. You got it out without sending it.
Step 4: Talk to Someone Else
You need connection, not specifically them. That's what we're here for.
Step 5: Remember Tomorrow
How will you feel in the morning if you send that text? Probably worse. Protect future-you from a decision current-you will regret.
